A Summer Solstice Strawberry Shindig

Stand-by to make garlands of flowers and give offerings to the sunshine!

The summer solstice marks an important moment in the year when the days are longest and the strawberries are most delicious. For 1000s of years, people have gathered together to mark the moment. This year you can be part of that gathering!

Hosted by the month of 'June' himself, expect tongue-in-cheek ceremonies, ancient tomfoolery and an extra dollop of cream all round.

Join us for…

  • Ancient seasonal ceremonies with a modern twist

  • Bare feet and standing in circles!

  • Wild crowns and garlands

  • Strawberries and cream

  • Loud shirts & groovy sunglasses!

Bring your friends, bring your family, bring a blanket and a packed lunch and stay all afternoon. We strongly encourage wearing your most colourful clothes!

FAQs

  • This event is taking place outdoors. Please wear sensible shoes and be prepared for the unpredictability of British weather: sunhats, SPF and water bottles are recommended, and maybe an umbrella!

  • There is step-free access to the main meadow, toilets and cafe (in Morrisons). Disabled parking spaces are available to Blue Badge holders. We regret that not all parts of the site are wheelchair accessible.

  • Meet by the play park on Kensington Meadows at 11am.

Kensington Meadows can be found behind Morrisons on London Road. There are regular bus services which stop just outside of Morrisons. We encourage attendees to walk, cycle or use public transport wherever possible.
